Bredonborough Rising at launderising amp

11.20

Bredonborough.

Rising at 05.05, launderising & lotsa practising. Now, an e-flurry.

Under consideration: the notion of listening & “autonomous” music. Probably, very little music “use” is currently focused, directed, attentive listening; eg the given sonic environments of public places. For a long time I resisted listening to music non-directly, where the primary focus is elsewhere, as when reading. Now, my music choices are often made to support reading. An example: this morning, a new folder on the i-Pod: Bartok & Beethoven. Various movements from the string quartets of each slide into each other.

Last night on tv: a History Of Punk documentary. This was presented, conventionally, as a reaction against the overblown pomp prattiness of the usual suspects. The three culprits given as example were ELP, Yes & Genesis. Notably, significantly, King Crimson was not included. And, if I might add, quite rightly so. Perhaps, after 14 years of rehabilitation, KC is no longer included in the list of Prog Rock Villains? Perhaps the currently available archive of live Crimson 1969-74, particularly The Great Deceiver, is sufficient argument?

12.46  An e-flurry of various arising issues to an accompaniment of Japanese soundscapes.

20.35  An afternoon of continuing practising & laundry. Of these two, in the lives of most Happy Gigsters laundry is the most likely recurrent feature.

To bed for a nap at the end of the afternoon, to be awoken over 3 hours later by the Minx, calling from Brighton. Dribble.
